Randallstown, MD - In a heartfelt ceremony, Randallstown native and basketball star Angel Reese was celebrated with the dedication of a freshly renovated basketball court at the Scotts Branch Activity Center. The event showcased Reese's remarkable achievements, including leading the Louisiana State University women's basketball team to a national championship, earning the title of NCAA All-American, and securing the Espy Award for best breakthrough athlete of 2023.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly christened "Angel Reese Court," Reese expressed her pride in making a positive impact and her hope that the court will inspire the local youth to chase their dreams. "Seeing my name on a basketball court in my hometown—a court where I played as a child—is a full-circle moment," Reese stated, emphasizing her unwavering connection to Baltimore, specifically Randallstown. She graciously thanked everyone for their support and encouraged the children in attendance to believe that they, too, could achieve greatness.

Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski, among other high-profile figures, praised Reese for her exceptional talent and hometown pride. Olszewski proudly designated the newly upgraded court as Angel Reese Court, highlighting Reese's status as one of the most highly recruited student-athletes in the nation and acknowledging her remarkable achievements. Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks Director Bob Smith commended Reese for placing Baltimore County on the map with her fiery competitiveness and unwavering dedication to the game.

The renovation project, which aims to modernize aging basketball courts and equipment across Baltimore County, allocated substantial resources to the Scotts Branch Activity Center. The Angel Reese Court received new fencing, a gate, poles, 36-inch acrylic backboards, breakaway rims, and nets. This upgrade forms part of Baltimore County's larger investment of nearly half a million dollars in over 175 locations, reflecting the county's commitment to investing in young people and creating opportunities for the next generation of athletes.

The dedication ceremony honored Angel Reese's inspiring journey and the impact she has had on female athletes in Baltimore County and beyond. With the newly renovated court serving as a symbol of hope and aspiration, Baltimore County Council Chairman Julian Jones emphasized the transformative power of sports in teaching fairness, hard work, motivation, and drive—attributes essential to the personal and athletic development of young individuals.

Angel Reese, a proud Randallstown native, honed her skills playing with EDRECO and Deer Park basketball teams, showcasing her passion and determination from an early age. As her success continues to soar, Reese remains a beacon of inspiration, leaving an indelible mark on her community and inspiring generations to come.
